CDM criticised: India calls for fresh approach to warming
Published on : Friday, July 18, 2008
Benefits are not reaching locals under the present CDM system, Minister of Science and Technology Kapil Sibal said. "Whatever the world talk about CDM market, the truth is that what we really forget that despite of huge investment in India, no real transfer of technology has taken place." Unless solutions are affordable and accessible, the goals cannot be achieved, he said. Reports PTI in the Times of India
Climate Change - Are we prepared?
Published on : Thursday, June 05, 2008
Political and public concerns are increasing parallel to the mounting scientific evidence that the erratic climatic conditions are caused by irresponsible developmental activities of humanity, thus altering the climate to the detriment of the humanity itself. In combating climate change, the planet Earth is to follow a two pronged path – use of mitigation strategies and adaptation strategies. Countries should take concrete steps to reduce CO2 emissions while taking precautions against adverse impacts on climate change.

Economist Ross Garnaut thinks humanity will probably lose the fight against climate change. The architect of Australia's response to climate change says the issue is "too hard" and there is "just a chance" the world will face up to the problem before it's too late. Professor Garnaut issued the chilling prognosis in a speech in Canberra tonight.
Climate Challenge: New threat to Freedom, says Vaclav Klaus
Published on : Thursday, March 13, 2008
My central argument formulated in the subtitle of my recent book devoted to this topic which asks: “What is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?” My answer is clear: “it is our freedom,” and our prosperity. What I see in Europe and in the U.S. is a powerful combination of irresponsibility, of implicit belief in some form of Malthusian logic, of cynical approach of those who themselves are sufficiently well-off, together with the strong belief in the possibility of changing the economic nature of things through a radical political project, writes Dr Vaclav Klaus, President of Czech Republic
Humpty Dumpty environmental policies
Published on : Saturday, February 16, 2008
“Environmental justice” is often used to benchmark corporate social responsibility. Many poor people in the world, rarely or never have electricity and must burn wood and animal dung, resulting in lung diseases that cause millions of deaths annually. Yet alarmists oppose fossil fuel power plants, as well as nuclear and hydroelectric projects. Should we demand that eco-imperialists be jailed or drowned every time children die because of these policies? Certainly not. But we should demand real environmental justice, writes Paul Driessen
